John Coffman's Group Discussion Concludes
This is the last week for this session of John's Thursday night class. We will take a break for a few weeks and then resume. Watch our calendar for the dates of the next class.
CASA at Parkview Center
Every Monday evening Dave Olson, our prison minister, conducts a CASA (Christians Against Substance Abuse) classat the Parkview Center, a local halfway house to which men who have been incarcerated have been released. Dave uses the NewLife Behavior curriculum, which has many courses, each course having 13 lessons. After each class, the students take the lessons and answer the questions, bringing them back the following week for grading.
If you would be interested in learning to assist Dave in this worthwhile work, contact him at the church office at 272-7584.
Sr Wk MSBC Deadline
In order for the staff to properly and adequately prepar, all registration forms for the Senior Week at Midnight Sun Bible Camp MUST BE given to the church office by midnight tonight. This may be done in person, by mail, or by FAX.
If you FAX your registration and medical consent forms in, you must give the signed copy of both forms to Judy Singleton before the camper boards the bus.
All fees must also be paid before campers board the buses to leave for camp.
Junior Week Camp
Children who have finished grades 4-6 may attend this week of camp. The deadline for registration is June 28, 2009.
If you are willing to help in some capacity during this week, contact Jeff Reichel at the Valley church of Christ office.
Anch. Jail East Bible Study
Parkview Center is a halfway house where some men go after being released from incarceration. They are allowed to leave the facility for work and other closely monitored activities, such as worship.
Every Monday morning, Dave Olson, our full-time prison minister, goes to Parkview to study God's Word with men who are interested in finding a different path than the one that led them to incarceration in the past.
Parkview Center C.A.S.A.
Parkview Center is a halfway house where some who are incarcerated go for a designated time. Those who reside there are allowed to leave for work but little else.
Christians Against Substance Abuse (C.A.S.A.) is a safe place for those who are struggling with any kind of addiction. This support group uses the NewLife Behavior curriculum, which is a faith-based 12-step progam that is a proven resource to help people change their lives.
When you apply the principles of C.A.S.A. to those who have been incarcerated, who are preparing to rejoin society, and who want to live their lives differently than they have in their past, you have a promising combination.
