CASA at Parkview Center
Every Monday evening Dave Olson, our prison minister, conducts a CASA (Christians Against Substance Abuse) classat the Parkview Center, a local halfway house to which men who have been incarcerated have been released. Dave uses the NewLife Behavior curriculum, which has many courses, each course having 13 lessons. After each class, the students take the lessons and answer the questions, bringing them back the following week for grading.
If you would be interested in learning to assist Dave in this worthwhile work, contact him at the church office at 272-7584.
John Coffman's Structural Analysis Class Will Not Meet
The Alaska Statewide Lectureship is this weekend in Homer. Therefore, John's class will not meet. We'll be here next Saturday. See you then
Hiland Bible Study
Hiland Mountain Correctional Center is about 15 minutes away from Anchorage and houses women who are incarcerated. Every Saturday Marianna Olson and/or other volunteers go to meet with women for a Bible study. About 15 women usually attend.
This class uses the NewLife Behavior curriculum, which was written especially for men and women are are in prison. It has proven to be very effective in helping to change the lives of those who want to follow a different path from the one that took them to prison.
Retirement Reception for Rita Wilson
We all know what a momentous accomplishment it is to retire from a job you've held for many years. Our sister, Rita Wilson, has done just that. She's also reached a significant birthday!
Rita's daughter, Denise Rogers, with the help of a few ladies of our congregation, are planning to honor Rita at a Come-and-Go Reception at the Anchorage Church of Christ on Saturday, April 3, 2:00 - 4:00. Denise invites us, Rita's church family, to join her on this happy occasion.
Please, no gifts.
