Don't Throw Away Your Confidence
Posted January 25th, 2009 by Mike Shero“So do not throw away your confidence: it will be richly rewarded. You need to persevere so that when you have done the will of God, you will receive what He has promised” (Hebrews 10:35-36).
Look at all that God has done for us. We are truly the most blessed people in the world. We have salvation in Jesus. We have education and understanding in the Word of God. We have many copies of the Bible, so many in fact that we carelessly leave them lying around. There are so many different translations that we have the luxury to compare. We enjoy word study reference materials. We have more Bible related materials available today than at any other time in history. We can dig in and find things out for ourselves. We are truly blessed.
Availability Is As Important As Ability
Posted January 18th, 2009 by Mike SheroWhen Jesus was teaching about the great banquet in the kingdom of God He began by talking about the “availability” of those invited. He eliminated from the guest list those who were “to busy” to come. They would not be allowed to attend! That’s exactly what had happened to Israel 1,500 years earlier. You may remember the story. Moses had led them to the southern border of the land of Canaan. Directed by God, Moses sent the 12 spies in to see the land. Upon their return to the camp, ten of the spies were afraid to go back into the land and told the people that we “cannot” take the land. God had promised the land to Abraham and his descendents. God keeps His promises. God would have given them the land. He would have fought for them. It was not a question of their ability! They focused on the enormous size of the enemy and the fortifications. They failed to see the size and strength of God!
He Must Become Greater; I Must Become Less" - John 3:30
Posted January 11th, 2009 by Mike SheroJohn was talking about the influence that he had been having as compared to what Jesus was going to have. John’s role was declining. His light was becoming dimmer. The light of Jesus was just beginning to shine, and would become brighter and brighter. John could not have spoken truer words. He captured the essence of our life and our relationship with the Lord. “He must become greater; I must become less.”
