Availability Is As Important As Ability

When Jesus was teaching about the great banquet in the kingdom of God He began by talking about the “availability” of those invited. He eliminated from the guest list those who were “to busy” to come. They would not be allowed to attend! That’s exactly what had happened to Israel 1,500 years earlier. You may remember the story. Moses had led them to the southern border of the land of Canaan. Directed by God, Moses sent the 12 spies in to see the land. Upon their return to the camp, ten of the spies were afraid to go back into the land and told the people that we “cannot” take the land. God had promised the land to Abraham and his descendents. God keeps His promises. God would have given them the land. He would have fought for them. It was not a question of their ability! They focused on the enormous size of the enemy and the fortifications. They failed to see the size and strength of God! They decided they were not “available”!
Because they were “not available,” God swore that they would not be “able” to enter the land!
Jesus tells us that the “fields are white unto harvest” and that the “harvest is plentiful”! That is a fact! The harvest is not dependent upon our ability! It is there and waiting. What Jesus wants from us is our willingness to let Him use us! He wants our availability! He wants us believing Him! It is Jesus who gives us strength! We can do all things through Him! Without Him we can do nothing! Where do you think your ability comes from?
It never has been because of our ability! It is always because of Jesus! The question is ARE YOU AVAILABLE?
