Don't Throw Away Your Confidence
Posted January 25th, 2009 by Mike Shero
“So do not throw away your confidence: it will be richly rewarded. You need to persevere so that when you have done the will of God, you will receive what He has promised” (Hebrews 10:35-36).
Look at all that God has done for us. We are truly the most blessed people in the world. We have salvation in Jesus. We have education and understanding in the Word of God. We have many copies of the Bible, so many in fact that we carelessly leave them lying around. There are so many different translations that we have the luxury to compare. We enjoy word study reference materials. We have more Bible related materials available today than at any other time in history. We can dig in and find things out for ourselves. We are truly blessed.
The church is here! Today! The kingdom of God is here! In Anchorage! We can know about it and be a part of it. It’s here, the body of Christ! We know that it is from God! We know that it is eternal. (If it were not, man would have torn it apart and destroyed it long ago.) The Lord’s church will always exist. Jesus is the Savior of the body. Our hope is in the body. We are invited in and Jesus Himself places us in the body. This is very important. We are not voted on. There is no background check, contract, or dues. The instructions are the same for everyone. Everyone “gets in” the same way and Jesus is that way. Eternal life is promised to those in Christ. Don’t miss this! We are truly blessed
Our bodies are wearing out. From the cradle to the grave, our bodies are wearing out. Some repairs make life more comfortable. Some repairs extend life. David Michael has an artificial leg. I have a titanium hip. Others have had by-pass surgery or a stint put in. It’s amazing the advances that modern science has brought. We wonder about what’s coming next. We know our bodies will eventually play out. There’s only so much that can be done for the “here and now.” We know that this life is not the end. The best part is still to come.
“Dear friends, now we are children of God, and what we will be has not yet been
made known. But we know that when He appears, we shall be like Him, for we
shall see Him as He is. Everyone who has this hope in Him purifies himself, just
as He is pure” (I John 3:2-3).
Don’t throw it away!
